Prashant Pathak, Senior Advisor of the POA Educational Foundation has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). Prashant advises the foundation on issues pertaining to social venture capital and entrepreneurship. He currently leads the First Nations Social Venture Capital Fund (SVCF) initiative of the foundation. Prashant is also active with Project Beyshick, that nutures entrepreneurship amongst the first nations youth.

Volunteers in Canada may have the opportunity to travel to Nepal to help set-up the infrastructure, define required processes and required training around this project.

Toronto, March 14 – A pilot project to assess the feasibility for developing e-Infrastructure in Nepali schools has been recently launched through sponsorship from POA Educational Foundation, Canada of Aditya Jha (www.poafoundation.org) and leadership of Dr. Shiva Gautam, Harvard University. The pilot project involves10 high schools in Katmandu through donation of 50 computers and printers. The pilot project was launched after signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. Contingent upon the results and experience from the pilot, both the Government of Nepal and project team hopes to launch it in all Nepalese schools in phases.

The objective of the Council is to identify prospective investment and trade opportunities for Ontario; promote Ontario as a premier location for business investment and for business immigration; identify the potential for international linkages that could lead to new investment and export opportunities and provide advice to the Minister on how the Ministry can increase the effectiveness of its investment and trade programs.

Film Circuit, a TIFFG initiative that tours Canadian films across the Canada and around the world will be visiting New Delhi and Kathmandu in January 2007 as part of a tour of India and Nepal. Aditya Jha through his foundation has generously agreed to sponsor the Nepal segment of the tour and to further assist Film Circuit with the administration and logistics of the trip to Nepal.
