The POA Educational Foundation was established in 2002 as a registered Canadian Private Foundation with charitable status by a successful Canadian IT entrepreneur, Aditya Jha. The POA Foundation supports projects based on three distinct values: the promotion of accessible and high-quality education, the nurturing of entrepreneurship, and the strengthening of global civil society and governance. The foundation is run in a very entrepreneurial manner (We practice what we preach).

Another central priority of the POA foundation is to nurture entrepreneurship among key demographic groups. By nurturing and increasing entrepreneurship in the world's less-developed regions, independent economic growth and sustainability become viable and integration into mainstream markets become possible. The POA foundation intends on providing entrepreneurial support and encouragement to the individuals and communities who stand to gain the most from new business opportunities.
The foundation recognizes the importance of good governance and a strong global civil society. It is the foundation's belief that good governance leads to peace and security, and is therefore a prerequisite for social and economic development. In order to help improve good governance, the foundation supports initiatives designed to increase the responsiveness of governments and community leaders to the needs of their citizens.
By focusing on these specific types of projects internationally, the POA Foundation is attempting to reach out those striving for a better future. Thus far, the POA foundation is involved in various initiatives, including Project Beyshick and IIT-Nepal.
