CyberSansar: The first ever Canadian Film Festival ends

Film Circuit, a division of the Toronto International Film Festival Group made an excursion with four films for the first time in Nepal. The film festival took place at the Kumari Cinema Hall, Kamaladi. The films were toured along with some guests. The films that were shown during the festival were Aubrey Nealon’s A Simple Curve, Bernard Emond’s La Neuvaine (The Novena), Sarah Polley’s Away From Her and Michael McGowan’s Saint Ralph.

The tour was also accomplished in India, Mumbai from January 18 to January 20, 2007.

The Canadian Cinema Showcase was supported by the Government of Ontario, Foreign Affairs Canada and International Trade Canada, the Canadian High Commission in India, and the POA Educational Foundation.

According to the press release, the aim is to build a platform for Canadian films internationally and transform the way people see the Canadian culture the world and also to enhance the relationship with the countries at a personal level through cultural exchange.
Because of the overwhelming response of the film festival in Kathmandu, Nepal, the organizers have given a thought to repeat these festivals in the future.
