Zoroastrian Society of Ontario

The Zoroastrian Society of Ontario (ZSO) was established in 1971 and is a registered charitable organization in Ontario with less than 100 members in Toronto. Zoroastrianism is the oldest monotheistic religion in the world with its roots in ancient Persia. The basic tenets of the religion can be summed up in 6 words: Good thoughts, good words and good deeds.

In 700 AD there were 15 million Zoroastrians. Currently, there are only 220,000 worldwide, with 5000 in Ontario. Hence, the need to have a new larger center where the community can continue to take care of the needs of the seniors and guide the youth to become decent contributing citizens of Canada, as Zoroastrians have already been contributing massively to the economy in India, Pakistan and Hong Kong.

The Building Capital Campaign was mandated to collect $ 2.2 million to rebuild the center at Bayview and Steeles Avenue. To date we have raised this amount thanks to the generosity of the community and also support from the likes of the POA Educational Foundation.
